For a convenient journey from downtown Chicago, take I-55 South towards St. Louis. Exit at 290 for IL-171/Archer Ave, and make a right turn onto Archer Ave. Continue on Archer Ave until you arrive at 6136 S Archer Road in Summit, IL.

West Suburbs

Visitors from the west suburbs can take I-355 N (Veterans Memorial Tollway) north and then merge onto I-55 N towards Chicago. Take Exit 287B for IL-171 N/1st Ave, merge onto S 1st Ave, and turn right onto Archer Ave. Continue on Archer Ave to reach 6136 S Archer Road, Summit.

East Suburbs

Guests from the east suburbs can take I-290 W (Eisenhower Expressway) west, merge onto I-294 S, and then I-55 S towards St. Louis. Exit at 290 for IL-171/Archer Ave and make a right turn onto Archer Ave. Continue on Archer Ave to reach 6136 S Archer Road.

North Suburbs

Our El Faro One Summit Location is easily accessible from the north suburbs. Take I-94 S (Edens Expressway) to I-294 S (Tri-State Tollway) towards Indiana. Merge onto I-55 S and exit at 290 for IL-171/Archer Ave. Turn right onto Archer Ave and continue to 6136 S Archer Road.

South Suburbs

If you're coming from the south suburbs, head north on I-55 N and take Exit 287B for IL-171 N/1st Ave. Merge onto S 1st Ave and make a right turn onto Archer Ave. Continue on Archer Ave to reach El Faro One at 6136 S Archer Road, Summit, IL 60501.

Jose Zavala

Jose Zavala Hernandez, a native of Mexico City, Mexico, possessed an innate entrepreneurial spirit. From a young age, he delved into the restaurant business, selling tacos on the vibrant streets of Mexico City. In 1978, he embarked on a journey to achieve the American Dream and established a modest eatery named Los Portales in 1979. In 1980, seizing an opportunity, he took over a restaurant called El Faro near 31st and Pulaski. With a growing family, he enlisted the help of his children, turning the venture into a family affair. Just a year later, he expanded his entrepreneurial endeavors by opening another El Faro in Summit, transforming it into a 24-hour burrito hotspot with a menu resembling the one we enjoy today. Though he had to part ways with the 31st street El Faro, the restaurant retained its name. Tragically, in 1989, he passed away, leaving behind two thriving businesses, eleven children, and a devoted wife. Today, his legacy lives on through the capable hands of his eldest son, Pablo
